About

About

Cher is a quarterly zine by LGBTQ+ writers and artists from South Louisiana. It was born out of love for the LGBTQ+ community of South Louisiana, the diversity within it, and the creative expressions that come from the unique joys and adversities we face. Our goals are to create connections within the community and champion the voices of our queer friends and neighbors especially as anti-LGBTQ+ legislation continues to be passed that aims to keep us silent and invisible. We are committed to keeping copies free and accessible to all. Digital copies are not available in hopes that, through distributing print copies, people will be encouraged to share Cher through direct interactions with those around them.

Support Cher

We would love for you to be a part of Cher. The zine is sustained through the submissions of people who love to create for the sake of creating, and it is organized through the stubborn efforts of individuals who believe that loving our community is how we effect change. Currently, it is funded entirely through donations.

Cher is regularly hosted in LGBTQ+ friendly coffee shops, art galleries, and stores. Occasionally we have booths at art markets and other events. Right now, we distribute zines primarily in Baton Rouge and Lafayette, but we are looking for more connections around the New Orleans and Lake Charles areas to expand our reach.
